The Male Identity in Scorsese Movies
When audience members look at films they want to put reality on the shelf and enjoy a well written movie. Martin Scorsese has always captivated and fascinated his audience members for many years. His types of movies tend to have a male leads while the female characters are sometimes not as developed or have an integral part to the plot itself. In "Raging Bull" and in "The Age of Innocence" we see two representations of
himself performing stand up. On the other side of the board we have Newland Archer who ended up marring someone who he didn't really love to put on an image for society. Both of these men like in most of his movies talk about redemption and spirituality. One can say that these two characters saw themselves as being redeeming individuals just by the way they ended up viewing themselves and their place in the world.
